The Seselle is produced from Groppello grapes grown in small vineyards along the shore of Lake Garda. near the village of Seselle. The microclimate in this small area is perfectly suited for growing of the Gropello grape and allows for the production of a wine that is its highest expression. The breeze that comes off of the lake keeps the vines dry and prevents the development of molds that would reduce the sugar level in the fruit.
The wine is aged in oak barrels for 2 years before being bottled as a Seselle. The wine goes well with red meats, salami and aged cheese. The wine will continue to improve with age for another 3 to 4 years. It is best enjoyed in large goblets and should never be served cold.
